PRIDEFEST 2025 A SUCCESS!

PrideFest 2025 1

LWVCC was well represented at Naples PrideFest on Saturday, June 7th at Cambier Park. Our location just off the entrance made it a great place for event-goers to stop by on their way in or out. We distributed all the gun locks we had, and completely ran out of Medicaid expansion petitions! The event was extremely well attended, with an estimated 4,000 people of all ages coming together to celebrate LGBTQ+, DEI, and community. Shout outs to Gary Bromley for handling the tent, table and chairs; to Cath Maslyn for her efforts throughout the day as well as to Roseann McTernan, Eileen Sepesi, Cynthia Cromwell, Libbie Bramson, Ellen Beam, Phyllis Andrews, John Macdonald, and Erika Ferrari.

LWVFL 2025 CONVENTION—A LEARNING EXPERIENCE

We had a wonderful delegation travel to this month’s State Convention for LWVFL. The two days dedicated to the convention were full of terrific learning and networking opportunities. We attended many sessions that generated conversations about how to best support the members in our organization and broader community. To name a few of the areas of learning: National Popular Vote, How to Best Support our Volunteers, Digital Democracy Project, Local Action and Voter Registration sessions. LWVCC President Paula Schwerin is confident that elements of what was learned will impact the work we do at the local level over time. Thanks to everyone who was able to attend!

LWVUS 2024 GENERAL ELECTION VOTER OUTREACH

Leagues made more than 30 million voter contacts ahead of the election, and our local league contributed to this success. These contacts took many forms, including email, direct mail, text banks, in-person canvassing, social media, phone banks, our relational organizing app League in Action, radio, billboards, and our one-stop shop for election information, VOTE411.org.

9.19 million users received essential election information from the bilingual VOTE411. VOTE411 covered nearly 56k candidates in nearly 29k races, and launched a new campaign finance feature allowing people to see the financial backers of federal candidates. VOTE411 also provided emergency information to states impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
