Diane Preston Moore
Diane Preston Moore is an enthusiastic, energetic and highly organized team player who wants to have a lasting impact in her community. She is committed to creating a better world for her children’s generation through service.
A long term member of the League, she began by attending lunch meetings and was inspired by the competent women who had passion for what they were doing. As a member of the first cohort of the League Leadership Program, she experienced first-hand the importance of developing strong leaders for the organization to effectively achieve its mission. She currently serves as Board Vice President and as Chair of the Education Committee. She was drawn naturally to Education, as her children are public school students, as she had been, and she feels strongly about civic education in public schools.
When asked what aspects of the League’s work are most essential, she said, “Every activity is equally important. All are vital to defend democracy and empower voters”.
Diane’s background informs her work with the League. Her undergraduate degree in math and her early career as a department store buyer capitalized on her logic and organizational skills, and her law degree and subsequent legal work has shown her the importance of asking questions to better understand issues and others’ points of view. And most affirming of all has been her role as Mom which has strengthened her belief that we are all unique individuals deserving of non-adversarial respect. She is both a gracious listener and a doer.
The League is fortunate to benefit from Diane’s devotion to making her community better, stronger, and more informed.
