Beth VanDamme
Lisabeth “Beth” Van Damme is passionate about defending our democracy and the power of the vote. She joined the LWVCC in 2022 because she believes informed citizens who exercise their voting rights are the cornerstones of a democratic society.
Beth grew up in the Midwest, in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. She has lived in Naples since 2015. Beth is a graduate of Hofstra University in New York and earned her MBA from DePaul University in Chicago. She worked in corporate finance and operational management at Transamerica Corporation, GE Capital, and Aegon NV, before co-founding Fire Wagon Hockey, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization created to promote recreational athletics in hockey and skating. Beth served on the Executive Board for eight years.
This combination of volunteering, leadership, and sports is part of Beth’s DNA. She served as Vendor Coordinator for the United Way Human Race and Volunteer Coordinator for the annual Crystal Lake Aquathon.
Beth is currently Chair of the Membership Team at LWVCC and has served on several committees over the past three years, including Juvenile Justice, Voter Services, Social Policy, and Development and Outreach, and a graduate of the League Leadership Program.
Beth is inspired by this quote from an unknown author on the power of community service: “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections on election day, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”
